The Tasty Benefits of Chia Seeds

My new favorite treat is chia seed drinks. They come in many different flavors and the chia seeds float suspended in the juice and have the feel of small tapioca pearls. I love to drink a bottle before going to the gym, because chia has a remarkable energizing effect. My favorite of the growing number of companies offering chia drinks is Mamma Chia, started by an awesome women named Janie.

Chicago's Green Restaurants

Ben and I traveled to Chicago for the holidays and were delighted to find Chicago's positive green economy growing at an unstoppable pace. Chicago is known for its great restaurants and the city has a reputation for greenness, and now the two are combining with explosive potential for greener practices and policies. This convergence is having a significant impact on the restaurant sector's impacts on the environment.

Holiday Gifts Good for People and Planet

I love attending Madison's annual Fair Trade Holiday Fair. I always try to buy all of my gifts from these local Fair Trade vendors. I feel good about purchasing products that directly improve the lives of women around the world.

This is great, because Fair Trade is an effort to improve the lives of workers around the world by paying them higher wages.

Moving Towards Safe Chemicals

The American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC) is taking the lead in rallying support for the use of safe chemicals in the United States.

Our current chemical regulatory framework is outdated and inadequate - even when legislation was enacted in 1976.

The Purest Salt on Earth?

I always read the label. When I shop for groceries, I'm the person standing in the aisle picking up item after item and turning them over to read the ingredients and examine the label.
